Jerrod's white RAM in the snow.

On this “episode” of 67 Designs Customer Spotlights, where we share the stories of some of our customers, we get to know Jerrod Young. Young, who lives in Brenham, Texas, is a business development executive for a tool company in Denver. Thanks to the travelling nature of his occupation, he is able to get out and explore what this country has to offer pretty much every weekend!

Proud owner of: a white 2020 RAM 2500 (photos feature this RAM, along with his older builds).

Featured upgrades: Jerrod’s RAM is decked out with the following...

  • DECKED® Pickup Truck Bed Tool Boxes and Bed Organizer
  • WeBoost Phone Cell Phone System Booster
  • 67 Designs Series 20 Rail, Carbon Fiber Arms, Universal for Phones and SwitchPro holder
  • SwitchPro 9100
  • Baja Designs XL Pro LED Light
  • More to come! (he only had it for about 6 months)

Customer of 67 Designs since: October 2018.

Inspiration for buying the RAM: Jerrod has three kids and wanted a bit bigger of an interior for adventures. He has a bumper pull camper as well. The 2020 was much better in terms of interior and capability with a camper than his older Tacoma.

First adventure with vehicle: November 2018. Jerrod went to Overland Expo East in Asheville, NC and had his vehicle on display! After that, he travelled up to Pennsylvania for work and got out every weekend that he could.

Most recent adventure: He just spent two months in the Badlands on location for work. On the weekends, Jerrod was able to get out camping. He mentioned the best part being that he was in a very close proximity to wild buffalo (woah!).

Most memorable adventure: His first adventure was also his most memorable—Overland Expo East! He noted that it was awesome being out with all the other overlanders, people doing the “same thing with the same vibe.”

Upcoming trips: He has a house in Creek, Colorado, so this summer, he and the family are planning to spend a lot of time there fishing, hiking, overlanding and more!

Dream trip: His dream trip is to go from South Dakota to Oregon. He has already done the drive, but had to do it rather quickly because of work. If he did it again, he would like to take “all the time in the world” and stop in places like the Tetons, Yellowstones and eastern Oregon.

Advice for those who are just beginning overlanding: “Do research first [in terms of gear], do not be in a hurry to build something,” citing that he “wasted a ton of money building the truck the way he thought he wanted it.”

#1 place he has camped: Big Bend National Park/Big Bend Ranch.

Fun fact about: He has lived in 48 states and worked in 42 of those! Exceptions being Hawaii and Alaska.

Notes from the writer: Besides getting out while working, Jerrod also loves to explore with his wife and kids. His dog, on the other hand, is the “world's worst traveling dog,” so Tux does not get out with them. And, when he is not exploring, he is most likely eating tacos! (hence his Instagram name below).
